Upward Spiral 1471 has a waste management division and an advanced water and effluent treatment division. The waste management largely services municipalities in managing of mini-dump sites and illegal dumping, as well as collection of domestic waste. We have designed and built a licensed water treatment and storage facility.

What sets us apart

Our biggest achievement is the development of an Effluent Treatment Technology, that we have named Discharged To Sewer (DTS), which allows for the recovery of water from harzadous waste effluent and is in line with the recent regulation from Department of Enviromental Affairs (DEA) for Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) to landfill.

  • The technology allows for the treatment of hazardous liquid effluent to be treated and discharged to sewer or reticulated back into the process. The technology is further developed for the recovery of excess metals in the effluent, from base metals to precious metals (PGMs and Au).
  • The water quality achieved is in line with the municipal standards for discharge to sewer.
  • With our young and vibrant technical team consisting of Process Engineer, Chemical engineer & newly graduated operators, we are aiming at making significant strides in the treatment of waste water
